Did you know trauma can affect your physical health?
Have you worked on your health, eaten almost perfectly, exercised, cut out food groups/types and still no improvement in your physical health?
Trauma can and most likely will affect your health in some way at some time. If you feel like there is something wrong with your health, but the doctor insists nothing is wrong or “everything looks fine – just take this anti-depressants/birth control”, trauma may be your cause.
Initial reactions to trauma can include exhaustion, confusion, sadness, anxiety, agitation, numbness, dissociation, confusion, physical activation, and blunted affect/feeling in shock.
BUT after some time, the body can begin to present more psychosomatic symptoms. Some of the most common psychosomatic symptoms include:
o Nausea, IBS, gas, constipation, diarrhea, bloated stomach
o Poor gut health, acne, skin rashes/conditions
o Rapid heartbeat, panic attacks, palpitations/skipped beats, rapid pulse
o Shortness of breath, nose breathing, chest pain, changes in blood pressure
o Brain fog, concentration and focus issues
o Headache, migraines, neck and shoulder pain
o And more….
Trauma changes the brain, but so does healing and trauma work. You can begin to heal and feel physically and mentally healthy, aligned and thriving again. How through building your capacity to handle stress, and difficult situations, to hold space for old and new emotions and to learn to listen and communicate with your body AND your AMAZING intuition.
